Calling for Pattern Testers

**EDIT** Thank you all for a wonderful response, I now have a huge pool of testers and won’t be taking on any more for awhile. I’ll be sending out emails to everyone who applied very soon.***

I’ve got some exciting plans coming up and I’ll be needing some pattern testers. So I’m asking for your help, if you are able to be a pattern tester that would be fabulous.

Here is a brief run down of what I need
– competent home sewers with an eye for detail
– ability to provide good feedback on fit and notes on pattern instructions
– patterns range from basic to intermediate/difficult and cover a range of skills. Fabrics will include wovens and knits. Skills will include (but are not limited to) application of lace, fold over elastic, swimwear elastic, collars and plackets.
– sewers of womenswear and children’s wear
– turnaround times will vary but a due date will be given so you have a time frame for testing.
– photos of the finished garments on a person. These do not have to be “modelled” shots. They are purely for help with the fitting process. Should you wish to share the images/pattern on your own blog or social media you are welcome to do so after the release date but it is not a requirement of you being asked to be a tester.

As compensation for your time and efforts you will receive the final version of the pattern and a discount code for your personal use on other patterns in the range.

To be a tester please comment below with
– your blog or social media handle so I can see what you like to sew and match you to the appropriate pattern
– your preference for wovens or knits
– your preference for womens or kids
– level of sewing experience

Hi Susan. I would be happy to pattern test for you so long as it is not lingerie and swimwear. I love sewing knits and wovens, so I don’t have a preference. I don’t have a blog but as you know I use IG.
    Marjorie @marjoriesews

  2. I blog at miymdiary.blogspot.com and my social media handle is laurahoj. I sew knits and wovens. I have been sewing for 35 years and am advanced. I see for both myself and my teen daughters, preteen daughter, and 7 year old son.

I would love to be a pattern tester. I have been seeing for >10 years, but mostly home decor. I recently started sewing women’s fashions. I don’t yet have much of an online presence, but sew women’s dresses and tops for myself. I have done a few knits but am mostly focused on wovens.

  6. Hi! I love to sew and I would love the opportunity to be a pattern tester. My Instagram handle is @sarahlblalock- my ig is not dedicated only to sewing, but there are lots of pictures of things I’ve sewn, mainly for my kids- most recently there is a picture of my son in his Oliver and S sleepover pajamas-turned Red Sox costume and my daughter in an altered Geranium dress Elsa costume, a few more pictures of various Geraniums, Oliver and S Roller Skate dress, Building Block dress, Playtime ddsss, Shwin and Shwin babydoll dress, See Kate Sew Pippa Peplum, amongst others.

My preference is woven fabric kids’ patterns, but I also see womenswear and work with knits. I have been sewing pretty obsessively for about 5 years, mostly self-taught and learning from patterns, but I also took a few sewing classes that helped with basic skills at a local sewing store.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

I sew both knits and woven’s (I have an overlocker and coverstitch) I mostly sew women’s clothing but have been known to whip up an outfit for my very fashion opinionated 5yr old. I’d put my sewing level at experienced. Thanks!

Hi Susan! I’d like to volunteer to be a tester if you’re still in need.

I’m not much of a blogger, but I do have a neglected blog here: http://ginpins.blogspot.com
I can be found on Kollabora here: http://www.kollabora.com/users/280066/ginny?bid=sewing
    and on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/ginpins/

I enjoy sewing with both knits and wovens. I’d prefer women’s patterns, only because there are currently no littles in my life at this time who could model the makes/test for fit.

I’ve been sewing since I was a wee tot — well over 50 years! I’m very meticulous and consider myself a very experienced sewist.

  15. Hi there! My name Kaela and I would like to give pattern testing a go. I usually like to sew woven fabrics in just about any style, but I really like to sew vintage inspired items and fun shorts. I would prefer to sew women’s clothes (I have no children). But I’m always keen to try anything! I would say that I am at least intermediate sewer πŸ™‚

  16. Robyn says: Reply

    Ooooh pick me!
My IG is a mixed bag of content, but I’m @robynie
Wovens or knits are both fine with me
Women’s is best, no children available
Intermediate level, but also ambitious, so I’m happy to try new techniques beyond my skill level

  17. Hi there =)
    – Blog: sopbac.com, Instagram: @sopba (I have mostly sewn dresses, but I really want more seperates)
    – I prefer woven, but do not have a problem with knits.
    – I prefer to sew for myself (women) since I don’t now of that many kids to sew for.
    – I would say I’m an average sewer, I’m not a beginner, but I do have more to learn.

I would really love to be your patterntester. So exciting =)

  18. I would love to test for you. I’m happy with knits and wovens and would prefer womens’ please. And I’m an intermediate sewer, of a few years, including some testing for other designers πŸ™‚

Knits or woven – both are ok, preferably knits as I love to serge. πŸ™‚
    Adult patterns are preferable.
I’m an advanced beginner. Can sew elastic, swimwear, serge. Haven’t sewed a collar or a placket yet but am willing to try.

    Hi Susan,

Saw your request on Twitter and would love to put myself forward. Learned to sew many years ago, have a neglected sewing machine! Most recent thing I made was a pair of curtains for my lounge! Don’t sew much, would love to sew more and would class myself as a beginner. (I know a fair amount of theory, just lack the experience!) No sewing on social media; Twitter @clairescalling

    Thanks!!

  24. Hi, I would absolutely love to test your patterns!
I blog at http://missdixieodare.blogspot.com.au/ where I mostly sew Vintage styles, but I am also happy to test any sort of style. I am a fairly advanced seamstress, I prefer wovens over knits, but I don’t mind working with either. I don’t have any kids to sew for, so at this point can only test women’s patterns.
    Thanks

I usually sew wovens but am keen to get to grips with knits as they’re afar I actually prefer to wear.
I’m a largely selfish sewist although I am hoping some of my Christmas gifts will be handmade this year.
In terms of experience, I would say intermediate. I have a lot to learn and many techniques I would like to perfect. It would be great to pattern test for you.

Hey I would really love the opportunity be a pattern tester for you! You can check out some of my work on my Instagram feed @harrietnaomi I love sewing women’s and children’s wear so would be happy to do either. I would prefer wovens as I have only just ventured into knots so would be a lot more confident with wovens! I have a degree in Fashion Fesign which was heavily focused on the patern cutting and sewing sode so would say I’m an advanced intermediate sewist.

  42. Hi!

Would love to test if you are likely to get to larger sizes. I have lots of experience testing (Named patterns, Paprika patterns, Baste and Gather Birkin Flares, lots of bags, Thread theory mens boxers, some kids patterns) and really enjoy the process. I am @chloe_deadlycraft on Instagram and have a blog at http://deadlycraft.blogspot.com though it’s a bit quiet atm as am waiting for a facelift.

I prefer knits marginally but happy with either, womens clothes (but have kids 7 and 10) and would say am advanced (zips, buttonholes, welt pockets, adjustment.

    Hi Susan,

Just in case you haven’t already got enough people.
    Instagram: @kathleens15. KathleenS on http://www.patternreview.com.
I am upper intermediate level for wovens and lower intermediate level for knits. I can test either depending what you’re looking for (e.g. for knits I would love the instructions to hold my hand for anything complicated – and could test that – whereas I don’t need it for wovens).
I would prefer to test women’s patterns.
Annoying attention to detail is my thing.

I would also like to test your patterns. I’m an adventurous beginner and love sewing with both woven & knits. I don’t have much experience with lingerie or swimwear but they’re on my list of must dos. I’ve not blogged much over the last year due to an illness in the family but it’s calling me back. I’ve sewed a lot although not recorded it, most recently bridesmaid dresses for my daughter’s wedding. Blog is https://clickityclackcreate.wordpress.com/category/sewing/.

I sew with both wovens and knits – so have no preference either way

I sew for myself and my nephew (age 8) and nieces (ages 7 and 12)

I have a degree in fashion and textiles and worked for several years in manufacturing factories in the Midlands. Working mainly on childrens casual clothes, nightwear and underwear that were supplied to many well known UK high street stores,
Having moved away from the industry when it all moved off-shore I worked for 15 years in IT and have kept my sewing as a passionate hobby.
We moved house last year and I am now in the lucky position of having a dedicated sewing room (happy place!) to make as much mess and chaos as i want!

Woven or Knits: I’m more of a woven girl but I can go either way
Women’s or kids: women’s unless you call my husband a kid, which I do.
Sewing Experience: I like to say I’m intermediate. Good enough to make quality clothing but inexperienced enough that I’m still learning new techniques

I work with both wovens and knits. I can test women’s or children’s. (My girls are 7 and 5)
I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl, I would say I’m pretty advanced. Only thing I haven’t done is drafted a pattern.

Hi I’m Kyrsten and I would love to be a tester for your designs. I am an intermediate sewist and I really don’t have a preference when it comes to fabric. I like working with both knit and woven. I do prefer to sew women’s patterns. I have a few examples of my work on pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/kyrsto9/sew-awesome-tested-patterns/ Thank you.

Hi there! I’m Monica from @monicamarkle. I’ve studied pattern making, garment construction, couture and advanced couture and would so love to be a pattern tester. I’ve only recently started sewing from other people’s patterns. In my past life I was a business analyst so am great at giving in depth feedback.
My preferences in order would be lingerie, swimwear, wovens, childrenswear, knits and happy to do some or all as i currently am not employed so will have a quick turn around time.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

I would love to pattern test! I’m an intermediate sewist. I lean a bit more towards advanced beginner with knits, but I do have experience sewing lingerie (under wire bras, foe, stretch lace). I’ve only just started posting on IG @iseethestrals, so unfortunately not a tonne to see. Women’s patterns for sure. I’m petite (5’3″) and busty (30F) for fit variety!

Hi Susan! I’m an intermediate-level seamstress who would love to see behind the scenes of what it takes to develop a pattern. I’m 16 years old and am very keen to get into the pattern drafting industry once I leave school so would love to get a taste of it now! I have had experience with knits and wovens and particularly enjoy making activewear at the moment! I’d love to help out and I think it may just be a chance to use my perfectionistic side for good πŸ˜‰ Thanks!

  83. Omg!!! This sounds amazing. I would love to be a pattern testerπŸ˜‰!!! I would consider myself an intermediate sewer. I’ve been sewing for about 16 years since I was 12. I’ve accomplished a certificate of completion from Los Angeles Trade Tech back in 2011. I’ve recently gotten back into home sewing since leaving the industry a couple months ago. I’m rebuilding my following and finding my place in this new niche of home sewers/sewcialists. My website is http://www.mybonafidetheory.com and my Instagram handle is @miss.cue ( it’s more lifestyle however I do have my sewing photos for viewing as well). I’d greatly enjoy the opportunity to test some patterns for you giving honest and critical feedback.

I am more familiar with woven fabric, but have made some projects with stretch fabric before.

  85. Hey Susan, I’d love to be considered. My instagram and blog are Antipodean stitcher, I sew wovens more than knits but don’t mind either, and I’d prefer women’s clothes. I’ve been sewing over a decade so I’d say I’m fairly good, although I haven’t taken any classes.

Hi, I would love to be considered for the pattern testing. I have been sewing for my children mostly and myself. I don’t have a blog or published photos, as I am concerned about my children being exposed in the internet world, but Im happy to send you photos, if interested.
My skills would be considered intermediate. I like to work with knits, wovens and I have just cut out my first swimsuit, so we will see how that goes. Thank you!
